The animal I chose to research is the Vaquita dolphin which is the smallest and the rarest of all the dolphin family. The Vaquita dolphin has a gray body with a pale, gray, or white belly and a dark patch around its eye. It is rarely seen in the wild.
Why is the Vaquita dolphin endangered?
The Vaquita dolphin is endangered because: they are killed by fishing nets that are meant for sharks, rays, mackerels, and chona fish. Most of the nets that they get caught in are illegal nets. So that makes their death even sadder. They are also killed by shrimp trawlers. Marine Biologists believe that more than 30 Vaquita Dolphins die of these threats each year. I chose this marine mammal because: I never know that they existed until I did this project. Well, many people don’t know and probably don’t care that it exists. That is why I’m doing this paper to tell people about this amazing, adorable dolphin that I want to save.
What can I do to help?
I can either adopt a Vaquita Dolphin or I can donate money to the World Wild-Life Found at http://www.worldwildlife.org/species.
