I chose the polar bear because they are endangered and need lots of help to be saved; they are calm animals until you disturb them. Polar bears are endangered because in the Arctic they are losing sea ice because of the weather. Sea ice is a platform on the ice. Polar bears need sea ice to live on; they depend on sea ice for sleeping, to hunt and to breed. The more that the sea ice melts the more the polar bears can’t hunt for food. Polar bears are getting sick and are suffering from starvation. Polar bears are important because they are at the top of the food chain; they have an important role in this environment. Polar bears depend on climate change for their existence. Because of this polar bears have to spend most of their life onshore. Polar bears eat seal, so if the seals are endangered there is less food for them to eat. They sleep half their time, but when they are not sleeping they are mostly hunting. How they hunt: if they see a seal under the water they chase it until they find a sea hole. When they find it, they swim in the water and capture it. They spend 50% of their time hunting, but only 2% of their hunts are successful. The polar bears need lots of help. That is why the world wildlife fund is helping them.
